2015 CMD COMMEMORATIONS
The 2015 commemorations of Captain Mbaye Diagne were organized by the United Nations in partnership with the Association of Captain Mbaye Diagne for the Culture of Peace. A ceremony was held on Friday 29 May 2015 on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, dedicated to Captain Mbaye Diagne.
Many were the participants in the event, held at the Headquarters of the Regional Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Information Centre for West Africa. The United Nations Office for West Africa (UNOWA) also partnered in the organization. The commemoration saw an intense participation by Senegalese and international media.
Cognizant of the importance of the heroic action and legacy of the Captain for the organization and for his country, the United Nations in Dakar dedicated the main room of the building to Captain Mbaye Diagne.
The highest military and UN authorities in the country paid tribute to the Captain, together with his family.
